Older Persons’ Project

A gentle massage

Home Page

Here you will discover all about our work and services.

We have had a successful pilot scheme which was established in the North of Liverpool, since June 1999. This service is provided free for residents of Nursing Homes, Sheltered Accommodation, Residential homes and service users of Adult Day Care Centres.      The Project already has a team of qualified volunteers and we have developed a programme of Holistic sessions for older people along side fun activities.

We provide a sing-a-long group and reminiscence group, and P.C. and Internet Training.                                                                                We also have qualified instructors who facilitate Tai-Chi,  Massage Techniques, Reiki, Meditation, Relaxation Techniques and Reflexology sessions.

Partnership Events

Opera supports events in partnership with other organisations e.g. Local PCT’s, Aintree Hospitals and Age Concern.

Training  & Personal Development

Our volunteers receive training to develop their own skills.                         Personal Development is an important part of retaining volunteers, that and making the project as much fun as possible.

We also have a 50+ Swimming Group, with an instructor who instructs
non-swimmers and improving swimmers.
This Group has been very successful and is growing all the time.
Most of the group succeed and receive their first ever swimming certificate.
We have a lady of 90 who regularly joins the group, so never think you are too old.
